Citing cost of production and weakened buying power due to inflation, the Canadian Government is to phase the 1 cent piece out of circulation from February 2013. 2012 is the last year the penny will be struck for circulation and the change is causing quite a stir amongst numismatists, for a number of reasons.

Mashonda is not amused at a recent interview in which Alicia Keys finally addressed being labeled a “homewrecker.” In case you missed it, Alicia stated that Swizz Beatz and Mashonda were “already broken up before we got together.”

Words can be used carelessly during times of conflict, but are often intentionally employed to sway public perceptions of conflicts. Israel took this a step further this week when the Israel Defense Force began using social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter to chronicle their ongoing military operations in Gaza.
